"Leverkusen would need to pull off a major shock if they are to come away with anything from the Juventus Stadium, particularly following their own matchday one setback.
"The Bundesliga outfit were favourites going into their home match against Lokomotiv Moscow but slumped to a 2-1 defeat, following on from a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Borussia Dortmund four days earlier.
"Peter Bosz's side have since returned to winning ways, though, scoring five goals without reply in victories over Union Berlin and Augsburg, the latter of whom they beat 3-0 on Saturday.
"Champions League wins have been harder to come by - just two in their last 14 outings - although they did beat Juventus when they were paired together for the only previous time in 2001-02, a campaign which ended with Leverkusen reaching the final."

"Always among the favourites for Champions League glory, Juventus' recent record in the competition is actually fairly poor with just one win in their last six European outings and three defeats in their last six at home.
"Maurizio Sarri's side looked destined for a statement-making victory on matchday one when goals from Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi put them into a two-goal lead at the Wanda Metropolitano, only for Atletico to hit back with two goals in the final 20 minutes to rescue a draw.
"One point from what is likely to be their most difficult assignment of the group stage is by no means a bad result, though, and the Italian champions will expect to chalk up their first victory on Tuesday night.
"Juve have won all three of their matches since that Atletico draw, including a 2-0 triumph over SPAL on Saturday, and may even already have one eye on next weekend's top-of-the-table showdown with Inter Milan, who lead the way in Serie A with six wins from six.
"The Champions League is no place to take your eye off the ball, though, even for a team still unbeaten across all competitions this season as Juventus are."

"This is a Dinamo side that shocked many by plundering four goals in what was their first Champions League outing for three years.
"Mislav Orsic's hat-trick inspired the Croatian outfit to a big win over tournament debutants Atalanta, firing Zagreb to the top of the group in the process after reaching the competition proper via the qualifying rounds.
"History suggests that result was an anomaly, though; Zagreb have failed to qualify from the group stage in all six of their previous Champions League outings and had lost 11 group games in a row - with just one win in 27 - prior to that triumph over Atalanta.
"Nenad Bjelica's side have also already lost as many league games this season as they did throughout the whole of last term, although they still sit joint-top and returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 hammering of city rivals Lokomotiv Zagreb on Friday night.
"Indeed, it is now 11 goals without reply in their last two games and those recent exploits in front of goal will raise belief against a depleted Man City defence, although it is likely to be events at the other end of the field - where City have scored 17 goals in their last five Champions League games - which are their primary concern in this one."

"For all their dominance of English football over the past couple of seasons, the Champions League is the one the Man City owners really want and their latest bid to claim that holy grail began in confident fashion in September.
"Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus were all on the scoresheet in Ukraine as Pep Guardiola's charges made light work of a tricky-looking assignment, bouncing back in style from their shock defeat to Norwich City just a few days prior.
"The English champions have gone from strength to strength since with four successive wins across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and conceding just once in the process.
"Three more went in against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday despite Guardiola resting the likes of Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and David Silva, once again underlining the frightening strength in depth at City's disposal.
"Such luxuries come into particular focus with the pile-up of fixtures which come with competing on all fronts, although there are fewer options in City's injury-struck defence."

"Bayern's Group B opener also brought a fairly comfortable three points as Kingsley Coman, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller scored in a 3-0 home win. As a result, another victory for the German giants on Tuesday night would place them in a strong position at the top of the section.
"Bayern have won each of the last seven Bundesliga titles but have not lifted the European Cup since 2012-13, which is too long for a club of their ilk. They have actually only won the Champions League once since 2001, and it remains to be seen whether they are capable of challenging for this season's crown.
"This is actually Bayern's 23rd Champions League group campaign - they finished top of their section last season to advance to the round of 16, where they lost to eventual winners Liverpool. Der FCB have actually only won one of their last five games away to English clubs - losing twice in the process.
"Bayern are unbeaten in their last nine European away matches, however, and have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four on the road, which is an indication of the task facing Tottenham on Tuesday night.
"It has been a period of change for the club with the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery moving on at the end of last season. Holding off the challenge from the likes of Dortmund to win another Bundesliga title will be of paramount importance, but the Champions League is also so important to the club."

"Spurs opened their Champions League Group B campaign with a 2-2 draw at Olympiacos on September 18. Last season's finalists led 2-0 inside 30 minutes before the home side hit back to claim a share of the spoils.
"As a result, there is pressure on the capital outfit to pick up three points against Bayern, who could seriously take charge of the section with a win on Tuesday night. These are the type of games that Tottenham dreamt of for many years, but the Bundesliga champions will travel full of purpose.
"There is no question that all is not well with Pochettino, and it will be very interesting to see how the story plays out over the next few months. Spurs face a tough trip to Brighton & Hove Albion in the league next weekend, while they will visit Liverpool before the end of next month.
"The likes of Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen perhaps no longer want to be at the club, but Champions League nights are always special, particularly with the club facing Bayern for the first time in more than 35 years.
"Tottenham have won eight of their last 11 Champions League home matches, while they have been victorious in each of their four games versus German clubs home and away - all against Borussia Dortmund. The capital giants lost five times in last season's competition despite reaching the final, though, and face a tough task against Niko Kovac's team."
