How Spain could line up against Switzerland

Sports Mole looks at how Spain could line up in Saturday's UEFA Nations League clash with Switzerland.

Spain will be looking to record their second victory of their 2020-21 UEFA Nations League campaign when they welcome Switzerland to Madrid on Saturday night.

La Roja, who played out a goalless draw with Portugal in an international friendly on Wednesday night, are currently top of Group 4 of League A with four points from two matches.

Luis Enrique's side opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Germany before recording a 4-0 victory over Ukraine and will be eyeing another three points in this contest.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how La Roja could line up at the Alfredo di Stefano stadium.

POSS SPA XI vs. SWI

Enrique will make changes to the side that started against Portugal on Wednesday, and it would not be a surprise to see David de Gea return between the sticks at the expense of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Pau Torres, Jesus Navas and Ansu Fati are also expected to return to the side, while Sergio Ramos, who was only a late substitute against Portugal, will be back in the starting XI.

Adama Traore made his debut on Wednesday but is again expected to start on the bench, with Dani Olmo and Fati potentially joining Gerard Moreno as part of a front three.

There will also be alterations in midfield with Rodri and Mikel Merino potentially joining Sergio Busquets, although Dani Ceballos and Sergio Canales are also options in that area of the field.

There is no Fabian Ruiz for the 2010 world champions as the Napoli midfielder has been unable to travel to Spain due to quarantine rules after a coronavirus outbreak at his Italian club, while Dani Carvajal, Thiago Alcantara and Marco Asensio are also notable absentees for La Roja.

Mikel Oyarzabal was included in the initial squad, but the Real Sociedad attacker will not feature after a test revealed that he had coronavirus antibodies.
