Alvaro Morata calls his rivalry with Spain teammate Diego Costa "a luxury" after the two strikers both scored twice against Liechtenstein on Monday night.

Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata has branded his rivalry with Spain teammate Diego Costa "a luxury" after both players scored twice in La Roja's 8-0 win over Liechtenstein on Monday night.

Morata was Spain's number one striker at Euro 2016, but Costa has since returned to the international set-up and the Chelsea forward was given the nod to start the 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Group G minnows.

Morata, who replaced two-goal Costa late on before netting twice himself, has insisted that the two players have a strong relationship despite their battle for one position in the team.

"My rivalry with Costa is a luxury," Morata told Goal.com. "[Critics] said the strikers didn't score and now we have scored four between us both. Costa has dedicated his goals to me, so imagine the relationship I have with him. I have no anxiety to score."

Spain will return to international action with a trip to Italy next month.

Spain's forward Diego Costa (L) vies with England's defender Phil Jones during the friendly football match Spain vs England at the Jose Rico Perez stadium in Alicante on November 13, 2015.
