Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jose Semedo has lauded "remarkable" teammate Lucas Joao after the latter made his international debut for Portugal.
Striker Joao made his first appearance at senior international level by coming off the bench in Saturday's friendly defeat to Russia.
Speaking of his fellow countryman, Semedo told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's remarkable. I don't remember any other player playing second division and getting picked by Portugal.
"It's a great achievement and it is massive for the club too because Portugal is one of the best countries in the world.
"I love the way he plays. He combines power, pace, skill and he's a big guy."
Joao has scored four goals in 18 appearances for Wednesday this season since joining from Nacional.
