Former West Ham United and Celtic striker Carlton Cole signs a one-year deal with US third division side Sacramento Republic.

Sacramento Republic have pulled off a considerable coup by signing former England international Carlton Cole.

At the end of last season, Cole was released by Celtic after making just five appearances in eight months, but he will now play his football in the US third division after penning a one-year contract with Sacramento Republic.

The California-based team are currently managed by Paul Buckle, who has recently had spells with Luton Town and Cheltenham Town.

Sacramento will be the seventh side that the 32-year-old has represented during his career.
