Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing up Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos as a replacement for Pepe, whose future at the Bernabeu is in doubt.

Real Madrid have enquired about Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos as a possible replacement for Pepe, according to reports.

The 33-year-old has just six months left on his Bernabeu contract and is said to be considering his future at the club, with Manchester United - managed by compatriot Jose Mourinho - allegedly keen on his services.

According to German newspaper Bild, Real enquired about the 28-year-old Greek centre-back during the two sides' Champions League meeting last week.

Los Blancos would have to wait until January 2018 in order to make an official proposal for Papastathopoulos because of a two-transfer window ban.
