James Rodriguez is unlikely to be involved in Real Madrid's first-team squad next season following the capture Eder Militao, according to a report.

James Rodriguez is reportedly unlikely to be involved in Real Madrid's first-team squad next season following the news that Los Blancos have signed Eder Militao from Porto.

On Thursday, it was announced that Madrid had won the race to sign the 21-year-old, who has agreed a six-year deal with the Spanish giants ahead of this summer's transfer window.

Rodrygo Goes will also arrive from Santos for the 2019-2020 campaign, while Vinicius Junior's presence at the club means that they will already have reached the maximum of three non-EU players allowed in the squad.

According to Marca, for James - currently on loan at Bayern Munich - to return, the Colombia international would have to acquire a European passport or hope that his parent club loan out Rodrygo.

The 27-year-old has contributed four goals and six assists in 22 appearances for Bayern this season, but could not help the German side overcome Liverpool in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.
