Real Madrid reportedly want to offer Gareth Bale a two-year contract extension after he became the all-time top-scoring British player in La Liga.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly identified handing Gareth Bale a new contract as one of their top priorities after the Welshman broke a long-time record held by Gary Lineker yesterday.

Bale, 26, scored Real's third in the 4-0 win over Sevilla to reach 43 La Liga goals and become the highest-scoring British player in Spain's top flight.

According to The Telegraph, Madrid, who have a two-window transfer embargo looming, now want to reward Bale with a two-year contract extension and tie him down until 2021.

Bale has scored 15 La Liga goals in 18 matches this season to match his total from his debut season in nine matches fewer.
