Gareth Bale's future at Real Madrid is reportedly in doubt following the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union.

The United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union could reportedly affect Gareth Bale's future at Real Madrid.

The Wales international will become a non-EU player when the UK withdraws - a process which is expected to take two years.

Madrid are only allowed a maximum of three non-EU players in their squad, and their quota is already full in possessing James Rodriguez, Casemiro and Danilo on their books.

According to reports in Spain, the La Liga club's plan to offer Bale a new seven-year contract could be put on hold due to the current uncertainty.

The 26-year-old, who has been linked to Manchester United, became the most expensive footballer in the world when he joined Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for £85m.
