Zidane was given the funds to bring in several high-profile players during the summer transfer window, but The Independent suggests that the Frenchman finds himself under pressure to keep his job after the demise in his nation's capital.
The report claims that a number of players have labelled their current form and situation behind the scenes as "a fiasco", as well as citing 'a lack of strategy'.
Former boss Jose Mourinho continues to be touted as a potential replacement for Zidane having sat out nearly a year since his exit from Manchester United.
However, it is hinted that those close to Florentino Perez may look to steer the president away from reappointing the Portuguese.
