Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: Real Madrid "interesting" option for David Alaba

Bayern Munich's chief executive officer Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has suggested that defender David Alaba is likely to join Real Madrid in the summer.

The Austrian's contract is set to expire this summer and despite several negotiations over a renewal, Bayern and Alaba are set to part ways.

Marca reports that Real Madrid are the favourites to sign the 28-year-old and Alaba would be interested in moving to the Spanish capital to play in a different league at this stage of his career.

Rummenigge, who is keen for the defender to stay with the German giants, has admitted that it is almost certain that he will leave this summer with Los Blancos a possible destination.

"It is 99.99% certain that Alaba will leave the club [Bayern] at the end of the season. From January 2, David is able to sign with any club he wants. I don't know if he will come to an agreement with Real Madrid, but they are a great club and I can understand why that's interesting for him," Rummenigge told Sky Sport News.

"[Real Madrid president] Florentino Perez hasn't contacted us, nor does he have to. It doesn't matter that they are going through a tough period, and haven't been as successful as in other years, they are still a great club and you have to understand the player."

Alaba has made over 400 career appearances for Bayern Munich since joining the club in 2010, and has won nine Bundesliga titles as well as winning the Champions League twice.

Mauricio Pochettino opens door for Sergio Ramos move to Paris Saint-Germain

Mauricio Pochettino has opened the door for Sergio Ramos to join Paris Saint-Germain, claiming that the French side would be a "great club" for the Real Madrid captain.

Ramos is believed to have reached an impasse with Madrid over a new contract, meaning that he is set to leave the Bernabeu on a free transfer in the summer after 16 seasons.

Manchester United are among the sides to have been tipped to move for the experienced centre-back, but PSG are widely considered the favourites to land his signature due to the lucrative contract they can offer.

Pochettino, who was appointed as Thomas Tuchel's successor a month ago, is not ruling out an end-of-season move for Ramos in his quest to land the Champions League trophy during his time at the Parc des Princes.

"After one month I am finding players with great leadership," he told Marca. "The great players are able to play and coexist in different projects and cultures, but I am very respectful.

"PSG's strategy has been the same for years, ever since we signed Ronaldinho: to look at market opportunities and bring in those who can improve what we have.

"We will see in the coming months. Here, Ramos would find a great club with the obsession to always win. PSG are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"Nothing else matters here except winning. Winning the Champions League has been a dream for 50 years; we have never won it. Even when I was a player it was an obsession."

Ramos has made close to 700 appearances for Madrid in all competitions, including 18 starts this season.
