The Bluebirds have won four and drawn two since McCarthy replaced Neil Harris last month, while Preston have lost three of their last four.

Preston may have alternated between defeat and victory in their last six away league games, but only Norwich City (nine) have won more times on their travels this term than North End's eight.

While Rotherham have improved over the course of the season, Norwich seem to be gathering momentum again and have to be placed as favourites for this game. Pukki and Buendia are both on form, and the Canaries will be hard to stop at Carrow Road.

Blackburn Rovers will be looking to halt their worst run of form this season when they travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Rovers were beaten 2-1 by Barnsley on Wednesday – their third successive defeat – and they now sit 12th in the Championship table, while Forest occupy 18th position.

Both teams are on strong runs of form so this is a tight one to call. A couple of months ago, Bournemouth would have been heavy favourites, but they should not underestimate QPR, particularly after the Hoops' win over Brentford, and we think that this fixture will end level.

The Royals - absent from the top flight of English football since the 2012-13 campaign - are currently in fifth position, eight points ahead of Boro, who are chasing down the top six in eighth spot.

This is a key game for both teams' hopes for the rest of the season so it could be a tight and cagey affair in Berkshire. Wins on Tuesday will give the two sides confidence after recent dips in form, but we think it will be Reading that manage to snatch the three points.
