Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott reportedly turns down a move to Rangers due to family reasons.

Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has reportedly rejected a move to Rangers.

Just yesterday, Rangers manager Mark Warburton claimed that he was "optimistic" about the 34-year-old moving to the Scottish outfit.

The deal appeared to be edging closer when Villa owner Tony Xia revealed on Twitter earlier this week that the club would not be receiving a fee for the defender.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Lescott has pulled out of the deal due to family reasons.

The defender joined Villa last year from West Bromwich Albion and has one year remaining on his current deal at the Midlands club.
