Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday will reportedly join Azerbaijani outfit Gabala on an initial season-long loan should an agreement be struck this week.

Andy Halliday is to hold talks with Azerbaijani outfit Gabala over a summer switch from Rangers, according to a report.

The 25-year-old has been left out of the Gers' squad for their Europa League first-round qualifying clash against Progres Niederkorn on Thursday evening.

Seemingly out of boss Pedro Caixinha's plans for the new season, Halliday is said to have moved closer to an Ibrox exit and is open to moving abroad.

Sky Sports News reports that the former Middlesbrough and Bradford City midfielder is travelling to Azerbaijan to finalise a move to Gabala, with an initial season-long loan being touted.

Halliday has made 91 appearances for Rangers since rejoining in 2015, having previously spent three years in the club's youth ranks before being let go at the age of 15.
