Result: Edinson Cavani brace gives Paris Saint-Germain final-day victory

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain defeat Reims 3-2 on the final day of the season.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain won their final league match of the season by defeating Reims 3-2 this evening.

A brace from Edinson Cavani and a goal from Adrien Rabiot was enough to see off their opponents.

With their five Ligue 1 titles being commemorated on the Parc des Princes pitch, it was PSG who started the match on the front foot.

Javier Pastore's shot was blocked in the fifth minute, before Cavani's shot was deflected for a corner by Reims goalkeeper Kossi Agassa.

Reims were able to nullify the PSG threat until the 27th minute, when Thiago Silva's slide-rule pass found Pastore, but the Argentine's shot went narrowly over the crossbar.

David N'Gog then had a sight of goal two minutes later, but his long-range effort was saved by PSG deputy goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez.

Cavani broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark, scoring from close range after Marco Verratti's through ball.

Pastore then had a brilliant chance to double PSG's lead, but he sent the ball wide of the target from six yards.

Rabiot added PSG's second on the verge of half time, beating Agassa from inside the penalty area.

Reims grabbed a lifeline in the 54th minute when Aissa Mandi headed into the net from Franck Signorino's lofted cross.

Gaetan Charbonnier then had the chance to level the scores just two minutes later, but his close-range effort was stopped by Douchez.

Rigonato Diego then wasted another chance in the 72nd minute, firing over the bar from a good position.

Cavani put the result beyond doubt with seven minutes remaining, firing low into the net after Ezequiel Lavezzi's pass split the Reims defence.

Grejohn Kyei scored a consolation for Reims in the 89th minute, but it was too late and PSG claimed victory.
