Result: Angel di Maria makes bow as Paris Saint-Germain beat AS Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain win 3-0 at Monaco in a game that saw Angel di Maria make a 25-minute second-half cameo at Stade Louis II.

Angel di Maria made his Paris Saint-Germain debut as Edinson Cavani scored twice to secure a comfortable 3-0 win away to AS Monaco tonight.

The £44m man came off the bench in the second half as a brace from the Uruguayan helped Les Parisiens preserve their high-flying start to the Ligue 1 season.

With three successive wins under their belt, the visitors started like a team determined to register a fourth as Laurent Blanc's side dominated the opening stages.

First, fit-again Zlatan Ibrahimovic volleyed just wide of Danijel Subasic's post, before Lucas Moura latched on to Marco Verratti's through-ball but missed the one-on-one.

Despite it being his first game of the season, the towering Swedish striker ran amok and set up Cavani, whose effort was parried away by Subasic on 25 minutes.

Leonardo Jardim's side - who suffered a midweek Champions League exit - slowly but surely began to develop a foothold, but the half-time whistle came before they could build on their possession with chances.

Both sides had chances early in the second period, with the usually-lethal Ibrahimovic failing to beat Subasic with a six-yard header, while Stephan El Shaarawy was denied by Kevin Trapp.

The breakthrough finally came on 57 minutes when Cavani rose highest to head a Maxwell cross beyond the reach of the Monaco stopper for what was his first goal of the season.

The away fans were cheering again eight minutes later when Di Maria replaced Lucas for his debut, and he almost produced an assist with his first touch but Cavani's diving header was straight at Subasic.

Nevertheless, the former Napoli hitman made amends shortly after, latching on to Ibrahimovic's perfectly-weighted pass before caressing home a second.

There was time for a third, as Di Maria grabbed an assist by playing in Ezequiel Lavezzi, who casually slotted home another as PSG ran riot in the second period.
