Preview: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Toulouse - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Ligue 1 clash between champions Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse, including predictions, team news and head-to-head records.

There can't be many occasions when Toulouse have arrived at the Parc de Princes ahead of their hosts Paris Saint-Germain in the table - a novel situation created by a surprise result in the French top-flight last weekend.

While the reigning champions suffered a 2-1 defeat at Rennes, Toulouse, who finished four points clear of the Ligue 1 relegation zone in May, maintained their unbeaten record and will be looking to spring a further surprise on Sunday night.

Toulouse would arguably be among the teams PSG fans would pick given a choice of opponents to play in search of a return to winning ways.

The Violets have only scored more than once in two of their last 20 away games and have a dismal record at PSG, losing on nine of their last 10 visits.

PSG began this season with a 3-0 home win against Nimes and coach Thomas Tuchel insists he is not unduly concerned by their subsequent first loss.

Although it took until December for his squad to taste defeat last season, Tuchel has pragmatically admitted that there were games they could have lost earlier, adding that their performance last weekend could have produced victory.

Tuchel's Toulouse counterpart, Alain Casanova, was unimpressed with his side's showing in their win over Dijon, voicing concern that his players had been too cautious during the first half.

The coach praised his players for their desire after the interval, adding that improvements are needed despite a deserved win.

PSG won both meetings between these sides 1-0 last season, but the Paris fixture between them two seasons ago was far more memorable than either of those victories.

Neymar, who had just arrived for a club record fee, scored twice and provided two assists in a 6-2 win for PSG that day.

Making his home debut, the striker also won a penalty that Edinson Cavani, the scorer of PSG's opener in Rennes before they fell to defeat, converted as part of the emphatic victory.

Team News

Neymar is expected to miss a third successive game for PSG, although he has trained with an ankle knock and Tuchel says he expects the wantaway Brazilian to stay at the club until a replacement is signed.

Aside from his most high-profile absentee, Tuchel is without defender Thilo Kehrer, who has a foot problem, and midfielder Ander Herrera, kept out by a calf injury.

Defender Presnel Kimpembe is also expected to miss out with a groin injury but Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye could make his debut in place of Thiago Silva or Thomas Meunier.

Toulouse have a couple of defensive worries, with Gen Shoji and Agustin Rogel out of contention. Shoji has a groin strain while Rogel has a broken collarbone.

New arrival Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, signed from Besiktas, could start in central defence as Casanova looks for more from his players.

Striker Corentin Jean remains absent with a cruciate ligament injury but Jean-Victor Makengo, their matchwinner against Dijon, has recovered after leaving the field as a precaution with less than a quarter of an hour to play.

Paris Saint-Germain possible starting lineup:
Aréola; Marquinhos, Silva, Diallo, Bernat; Draxler, Gueye, Verratti; Sarabia, Cavani, Mbappe

Toulouse possible starting lineup:
Reynet; Amian, Diakite, Isimat-Mirin, Sylla; Sangare, Vainqueur; Dossevi, Makengo, Gradel; Koulouris

We say: Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Toulouse

PSG fans might be brandishing banners telling Neymar to disappear but a glance at the goalscorers in that comfortable win over Nimes shows the class they have.

Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria were all on the scoresheet - and only a disastrous day at the office should prevent a squad of such quality from breezing past their latest visitors.
