Porto cruised into the quarter-finals of the Champions League courtesy of a comfortable 4-0 victory over Basel in the second leg of their last-16 tie this evening.
Yacine Brahimi opened the scoring for the hosts at the Estadio Do Dragao, while Hector Herrera doubled the advantage on the night just two minutes into the second half.
Casemiro fired home a spectacular free kick from range to open up a three-goal lead, before Vincent Aboubakar capped off the scoring with just under 15 minutes remaining.

Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for tonight's huge Champions League clash between Porto and Basel as both sides look to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The aggregate score is 1-1 going into this match following the first leg in Switzerland last month, and both sides will feel that they are still very much in with a chance of progressing tonight. Let's start with a look at the hosts...
6.47pmPorto come into tonight's match as favourites to progress, a status helped largely by their result and performance in last month's first leg. A 1-1 draw by no means puts one foot in the quarter-finals, but the Portuguese outfit do have the slight advantage with the away goal. The second leg at home often proves to be an advantage too, so it would be something of a surprise if Porto earen't to book their place in the last eight tonight.
6.49pmManager Julen Lopetegui may even feel that his side should be in an even more comfortable position having dominated for long spells in the first leg. Basel took an early lead following a slow start to the game but rarely threatened again throughout the 90 minutes, with Porto asking most of the questions without really carving out a good chance of their own. That changed in the 79th minute, however, as Danilo tucked away a penalty after a Walter Samuel handball.
6.51pmPorto have kept up their decent form after that result, winning three from three since the first leg. Indeed, they are now unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions, with the draw against Basel the only match in which they have failed to take maximum points in that streak. They have also kept six clean sheets in that eight-game unbeaten run, and another tonight would guarantee their place in the quarters.
6.53pmThe hosts have only lost one of their last 16 outings in all competitions, with that defeat coming back on January 25 at the hands of Maritimo, and have only been beaten three times all season - a sign of that task facing Basel tonight. However, the visitors don't necessarily have to win tonight, with a score draw higher than 1-1 being enough to send them through to the last eight.
6.55pmSurprisingly, Porto have actually lost more games at home this season than they have on their travels. However, their overall record at the Estadio Do Dragao is a very impressive one, with 15 victories from their 19 home outings this season, including an ongoing run of seven in a row going into tonight's match. They have kept five clean sheets, scored 23 goals and conceded just twice in that seven-game winning streak - an imposing record for any visiting side - while their last defeat in front of their own fans was back on December 14.
6.57pmDespite that good form, they do still have work to do domestically if they are to win the league this season, with four points separating them from leaders Benfica after 24 games. A 1-0 win over Sporting Braga last Friday kept them just about within touching distance, while the gap to third-placed Sporting is now eight points, so Porto should be in line for a top-two finish at the very worst this season.
6.59pmThings have gone a little better in this competition, where Porto remain one of only three unbeaten teams still in the tournament, alongside Chelsea and Real Madrid. Julen Lopetegui's side have won six and drawn three of their nine Champions League outings in the current campaign, including two qualifiers, keeping clean sheets in more than half of those games. They haven't lost at home in this competition since October 2013, while they have only been beaten once in their last 15 European ties home or away.
7.01pmA big task stands between Basel and the quarter-finals, then, but the Swiss side will hope that they are up to the challenge. They may take confidence from the result that got them to the knockout stages as they travelled to Anfield needing to avoid defeat against Liverpool in order to finish second in Group B. They managed that result, and another 1-1 draw tonight would give them extra time and possibly penalties to pull off a shock.
7.03pmThey will need to improve on their performance in the first leg, however. While they defended well at St-Jakob Park, limiting Porto to mainly long shots before the penalty, they were toothless at the other end of the field. Gonzalez's goal on the break was the only shot they had in the entire 90 minutes, while Porto had 15. They may feel fortunate to still be in the tie after such a tepid performance, but they are unlikely to get away with it again in Porto's own back yard.

7.05pmThey followed up the draw with a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Young Boys - their nearest challengers in the Swiss title race this season - but soon bounced back to winning ways in style. Like Porto, Basel have won their last three heading into tonight's match, scoring 10 goals and conceding only one in the process. That loss to Young Boys is their solitary defeat in their last 10 competitive matches, a run that stretches back to November 26, when Real Madrid won at St-Jakob Park.
7.07pmAway from home they have also been in decent form recently, although Paulo Sousa will not be pleased with some aspects of his side's play - most notably at the back. They have only lost one of their last eight on the road - that game against Young Boys again - winning six and drawing one of the other seven. That run stretches back to October 22, when they lost away to Ludogorets, but the main action has come in the last three games. During that time, Basel have scored 12 goals and conceded 7.
7.09pmThey remain comfortably clear at the top of the Super League table despite that recent defeat to Young Boys, sitting seven points above their nearest challengers as they edge ever closer to another title. Their dominance this season has been more or less total, with Paulo Sousa's side also boasting the best attack and joint-best defence in the division. There is no doubt that they warrant their spot as runaway domestic leaders.
7.11pmThings have been a little different in the Champions League, however, despite their progression to the last 16. They have now only won two of their last eight and three of their last 12 outings in this competition, including none of their most recent three. They haven't won an away game in the Champions League since September 2013, but they did overcome Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on that occasion. They have lost three and drawn two since then, however, including only one point from a possible nine in this season's group stages.
7.13pmDespite that, and Porto's impressive home record, Basel will be quietly confident tonight given their most recent outing at the weekend. Fourth-placed Thun were the visitors to St Jakob-Park, but Basel made light work of them, running out 3-0 winners to make it nine goals in their last two matches. A repeat performance tonight would be very welcome, and they could do with such good goalscoring form continuing too.
7.15pmTEAM NEWS: The teams are in for both sides, and as expected Porto are missing star striker Jackson Martinez through injury. He is the only change from the weekend match, with Vincent Aboubakar coming in in his place. 7.21pmWhat can we make of those two teams, then? Well, the most glaring omission for the hosts is captain and top scorer Jackson Martinez, who misses out tonight through injury. He has scored six goals in eight Champions League outings this season but picked up a groin strain in the win over Braga on Friday and could be sidelined for a few weeks if the injury is a bad as first feared. He had a quiet game in the first leg but is always a danger, and his are big shoes for Aboubakar to fill tonight.
7.23pmPorto obviously lose a goal threat in Jackson Martinez, but in Cristian Tello they have a man bang in form. He netted a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Sporting recently and backed that up with the only goal of the game against Braga, making it four goals in his last two outings coming into this match. The Barcelona long-term loanee was another who failed to really shine in the first leg, but he will be full of confidence now and is perhaps the hosts' most dangerous player.
7.25pmEvandro also comes into the side from the first leg, with Olivier Torres only fit enough to make the bench having injured his shoulder in that match. Yacine Brahimi starts again and will be a threat down the flank as usual. He was arguably Porto's most dangerous player in the first leg and will hope to shoulder the burden of Martinez's absence along with the likes of Tello and Aboubakar.
7.27pmThe back five is unchanged from both the weekend and the first leg, with Danilo starting having got the all-important away goal from the spot last month in Switzerland. He and Alex Sandro can give the hosts width down the flanks, and they will not turn down the opportunity to bomb forward whenever possible should Porto dominate possession for long spells as they did in the first leg.
7.29pmAs for Basel, they will be glad to welcome Schar back into the starting lineup from the first leg, with the defending returning from suspension to replace Marek Suchy, who is banned himself now. That is the only change for the visitors, with Walter Samuel again named at the back having missed out at the weekend. The veteran Argentine dealt with Martinez effectively - if not always legally - in the first leg, but did end up conceding the penalty.
7.31pmFurther forward, Gonzalez also suffered a mixed bag in the first leg, scoring on the break following a fine Frei pass after just 11 minutes, but then being forced off before half time through injury. He starts again today alongside Gashi, who netted a brace at the weekend to take his tally to 16 league goals for the season. He is currently the highest scorer in the Swiss league and is on course for winning the golden boot for a second consecutive season.
7.33pmMarco Streller also found the net at the weekend, and the veteran will be desperate to ensure that this is not his final European game for the club. The striker announced that he will retire at the end of this season earlier this month, despite only signing a new contract recently, and will want to make sure his European swansong goes on for as long as possible.
7.35pmPREDICTION: We're 10 minutes away from kickoff in Portugal, which means that it is time for a prediction! Porto were the better side in the first leg and, while Basel won't make things easy for their hosts, I can't see anything other than a home victory tonight. I will go for a 2-0 win for Porto and a fairly comfortable passage into the quarter-finals.
7.37pmPorto have a good record against Swiss opposition, losing just one of their seven outings in European competition. That came all the way back in the 1980-81 UEFA Cup second round too, with Grasshopper cruising to a 3-0 victory. They have won three and drawn three of the other six, although a draw may not be enough tonight depending on how many goals Basel get.
7.39pmThe visitors, meanwhile, have never won a match on Portuguese soil, drawing three and losing two of their last five trips to these shores. Indeed, they have only scored in four of their 11 meetings with Portuguese opposition, and another blank tonight would seal their fate. They are bidding to reach the quarter-finals of this competition for the first time since 1974, while they have already reached the knockout stages for only the second time in the modern Champions League era.
7.41pmPorto have only made it past the last 16 once in the last decade, but their pedigree in the competition is a lot more impressive than Basel's. They have lifted the trophy twice, the most recent of which came under Jose Mourinho in 2004. They have won seven of the nine European ties in which they drew the first leg away from home, while Basel have only won two of the seven in which they have drawn the first leg in Switzerland. They have lost all three of the ties in which their home first leg has ended 1-1.
7.43pmThere is one other Champions League last-16 tie taking place tonight, with Real Madrid hosting Schalke at the Bernabeu. The holders are 2-0 up from that first leg and it would take one of the biggest European shocks in recent memory for the Bundesliga outfit to turn things around in the Spanish capital.

3 minCagey opening to the match from both sides, with Basel seeing marginally more of the ball and focusing more on just settling into the game than making a quick start.
5 minIt will be interesting to see how Basel's gameplan progresses as the match wears on here. They seemed happy to sit back throughout the first leg, but they will have to go for it at some point tonight as they need an away goal. That isn't their usual style in these types of matches, so it will be a good test for Paulo Sousa's men.
7 minPorto are seeing more of the ball now and do seem keen to get on the front foot whenever possible, but they haven't been able to get a string of passes together as of yet. It's all very cautious and slow at the moment.
9 minThe hosts must also be careful to stick to their gameplan tonight. They will be expected to win this match, but their number one priority is surely to keep a clean sheet. They won't want to push forward for a goal and risk letting Basel nick one at the other end.
10 minA hint of a penalty appeal for the hosts as Brahimi gets into the box and skips past Xhaka, but the Algerian throws himself to the ground far too easily. Referee Jonas Eriksson has a little word with the winger to warn him against any future dives.
12 minPorto show the first sign of getting in behind either defence as the ball is fed down the left channel for Aboubakar. He loses the ball when trying to cut inside, but moments later Tello is brought down by Samuel right on the edge of the box, giving the hosts a free kick in a very dangerous position.

14 minAgain Samuel is punished for giving away a set piece in this tie! It is Brahimi who takes the free kick and, despite being only 20 yards from goal, he gets it up and over the wall and then back down in time. The keeper is left rooted to the spot by the quality of the free kick, and Porto move into the lead on aggregate.
15 minCLOSE! Almost a spectacular second for the hosts as Casemiro spots the goalkeeper off his line and curls a fine effort towards the top corner from a good 30-35 yards. It certainly has Vaclik worried, but ripples the net on the way over the crossbar.
17 minThat opening goal doesn't really change much for Basel, who still must score themselves if they are to progress. One goal without reply now would only be enough for extra time, however, while another for the hosts would surely kill the tie off.
19 minWorrying signs for Porto as Fabiano comes racing a long way out of his area to clear a ball that Danilo looked to have covered. He absolutely clatters into his captain, who appears to be knocked out cold, while the keeper has also hurt himself. This could be a double blow for the hosts, and all because of a bizarre rush of blood to the head from the keeper. It was a very nasty collision with Danilo.
21 minMedical staff are surrounding Danilo now and the whole stadium has gone silent. The skipper is being strapped to a stretcher and an ambulance has been brought to the sidelines to take him to hospital. He is moving his arms has he is carried away, but that does not look good for the Porto captain.
22 minPORTO SUB: Bruno Martins Indi is the man who replaces Danilo, who we hope will be OK after that sickening clash with his own keeper.
24 minThere is something of a subdued atmosphere in the stadium after that incident, with the concern for Danilo palpable around the place. Who can respond quickest to that lengthy stoppage?
26 minUPDATE: There have been a couple of goals in the other Champions League tie already, with Schalke taking the lead at the Bernabeu through Christian Fuchs, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to restore his side's two-goal aggregate lead nice and quickly.
27 minAnother shooting opportunity for the hosts, but this one is simple for Vaclik to deal with. It is Casemiro who lets fly from range, but he doesn't catch his effort right and it trickles into the keeper's arms.
29 minBasel have their first real opportunity to put pressure on the home defence with a free kick in a good crossing position. The first delivery goes over Samuel's head to Frei, whose subsequent delivery is also too high for the Argentine defender.
30 minYELLOW CARD! The first card of the night is shown to Gashi, and the Basel man is perhaps lucky it isn't more. He left one on Martins Indi as the Porto player cleared the ball, throwing the point of his elbow against the Dutch player's head.
31 minCasemiro again looks to have a go from range having been enticingly teed up from 30 yards. He gets plenty of power behind this strike, but it was always flying high and wide of the target.
32 minAt the other end, Streller has the chance to test Fabiano for the first time tonight, receiving the ball 25 yards from goal with players in support. He goes for a first-time curling effort towards the top corner, and you can see the idea, but the execution is well off as it flies high over the crossbar.
33 minCLOSE! Almost a spectacular second for the hosts! The ball bounces up nicely for Aboubakar, who accepts the challenge to volley it towards goal from range. The effort has the keeper worried, but swerves inches past the post. Indeed, it may have even clipped the woodwork on the way past. Unlucky from Aboubakar there.
35 minHalf chance for Porto as the pressure begins to build. The hosts work the ball around nicely in and around the edge of the box before a cross is lifted into the middle. Aboubakar is wrestling against Samuel in the box and manages to get a toe to the ball first, but there isn't enough power on it to really test the keeper.
37 minLike in the first leg, Basel have offered very little in an attacking sense so far. Porto will be keen to get a second goal which could kill the tie off, but they are still in control of things as things stand.
38 minYELLOW CARD! Gonzalez is the second name in the book and it is another nasty one. He catches Brahimi late on the ankle, and the referee has no choice but to produce the card.
40 minCHANCE! Good chance for Porto to get a second as Tello is slipped in down the channel and beats the keeper to the ball. He decides to look for a teammate rather than going for goal himself, but Basel just about deal with a very dangerous situation.
42 minSAVE! Basel finally bring a save out of Fabiano, albeit a routine one. The ball drops to Gonzalez on the edge of the box and he hits a first-time volley towards goal, but it is straight at the keeper, who gathers easily.
43 minMoments later as the other end Tello works space for a shot of his own, but the angle is always against the Spaniard and it is a simple stop for Vaclik.
44 minCLOSE! Almost a crucial away goal for the visitors as they continue to improve a little at the end of this second half. Streller is initially just a yard short of connecting with a really dangerous ball into the box, but it is only cleared as far as Gashi. He drills a low effort towards the far corner, and it spins narrowly past the post with Fabiano at full stretch.
45+1 minThere will be an additional five minutes at the end of this first half due to that injury to Danilo earlier in the match.
45+3 minUPDATE: It's turning into a cracking match at the Bernabeu, with Klaas Jan Huntelaar restoring Schalke's lead on the night before Ronaldo once again restored parity with his second header of the evening. It's 2-2 in the Spanish capital now.

8.41pmJonas Eriksson brings an end to the first half, with Porto taking a deserved lead into the break. It has been much like the first leg so far, with the exception of Porto keeping a clean sheet so far and now being on course for the quarter-finals. They will want another goal to make things a little more comfortable, but as things stand they are easing towards the last eight.
8.43pmThe goal came in the 14th minute, and it was a fine strike from Yacine Brahimi as he converted a super free kick from 20 yards. There didn't appear to be much room for the Algerian to get it up and back down again, but he managed it comfortably to give his side the lead in style. Samuel, who conceded the penalty in the first leg, was against the play to give the set piece away, but it was all about the finish.
8.45pmThe other major talking point of the first half was a serious injury to Danilo, who was knocked unconscious by his own goalkeeper. Fabiano rushed out and clattered into his skipper, who was blind-sided and caught his jaw right on the shoulder of the keeper. He was put in a neck brace and rushed to hospital, but reports are now suggesting that he is conscious and should be OK.
8.47pmIt is Porto who have come closest to getting the night's second goal, with Aboubakar lashing a volley inches past the post from range. Vaclik in the Basel goal was at full stretch and may not have been getting to the swerving strike, but fortunately for him the ball flew the right side of the post as far as the visitors are concerned. Casemiro almost scored from range too, nearly catching the keeper off his line, but his strike flew narrowly over.
8.49pmBasel did improve a little towards the end of the first half and had their best moment with one minute of the opening 45 remaining. A dangerous cross was only cleared as far as Gashi, who fired a low effort towards the far post from the edge of the box. The ball was spinning towards goal, but just didn't bend enough to make it inside the far post with Fabiano scrabbling.
8.51pmBasel do need to show more in the coming 45 minutes if they are to keep themselves in the competition, however. They are fortunate to still be in the tie given Porto's dominance over the two legs, but as long as they remain just a goal behind here, they stand a chance. A second for Porto would make things very difficult for the Swiss side, but one for the visitors without reply would force extra time.
46 minKICKOFF: Porto get us back underway for the second half and, as things stand, they are just 45 minutes away from the quarter-finals of the competition. Can they finish the job or is there still life in Basel?

It is superb play from Brahimi in the build-up as he cuts inside before rolling the ball back to Herrera, who opens his body from the edge of the box and curls a lovely effort into the far corner. What a start to this second half for the hosts.
49 minYELLOW CARD! Samuel goes into the book for a rash challenge on Alex Sandro. He was late and reckless there, and can have no complaints at being cautioned.
51 minUPDATE: Incredible scenes at the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid looked to have wrapped things up by taking a 3-2 lead on the night through Benzema. However, Schalke have got a third away goal through Salif Sane to make it 3-3 on the night and 3-5 to Madrid on aggregate.
53 minWhat have Basel got in response for the rest of this match, then? They have offered so little in the entire tie so far and now need two goals to stand any chance of staying in the competition, which looks highly unlikely.

56 minWe have seen two quality goals already tonight, but this one is really special. Casemiro lines up a free kick from 30 yards and drives a powerful, curling effort right into the top corner. The keeper didn't stand a chance such was the quality of the strike, and Porto now have a commanding 4-1 lead on aggregate. If it wasn't over before, it certainly is now.
58 minPorto are in complete control now and you get the feeling that there are still plenty more goals in this one. Basel are struggling and have shown signs of beginning to lose their heads as the hosts continue to dominate. The visitors have simply been outclassed over the two legs.
59 minBASEL SUB: Paulo Sousa makes an ambitious change in the hope of pulling this one out of the fire, with Breel Embolo replacing Schar.
60 minSAVE! Is there still a chance of a comeback? Basel show their brightest moment of the tie since the 11th-minute goal in the first leg, with Zuffi firing a low effort towards goal from the edge of the box. Fabiano is down well to make a good save, however.
