Ruben Neves wants Wolves to progress in Carabao Cup

The Portuguese star is likely to be rested on Tuesday night.

Ruben Neves wants Wolves to continue improving in every game as they prepare to host Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

Wanderers have quickly adapted to life in the Premier League following their promotion, holding Manchester United to a draw at Old Trafford on Saturday, as well as recording the same result against champions Manchester City at Molineux.

Wolves’ only defeat of the campaign so far came against Leicester, who they face at home in the third round on Tuesday night.

Neves is not expected to play in that tie as head coach Nuno Espirito Santo makes several changes to the team but the Portuguese midfielder told the club’s official website: “We always think game-by-game and are now thinking about Leicester.

“It is an important game because we want to go on in the cup. We will focus on doing what we are doing and improve week-by-week.

“Since I started last year we are improving and have made ourselves difficult to play against.

“We want to play every game like it is the last game in our lives, but we can’t think about the future before we do well in the present. We can think about the opponent, but we are 11 against 11.

“We don’t need to be afraid to play anyone. They are not superheroes and if we do things well, it is difficult for them.”

Nuno has picked the same starting line-up for all six Premier League matches this season so the third-round tie is an opportunity to give other players some more game time.

Matt Doherty and Conor Coady were the only first-team regulars to play at Sheffield Wednesday in the previous round. The likes of Adama Traore, Romain Saiss, Leo Bonatini, Leander Dendoncker and Kortney Hause should be among those to start against the Foxes.
