A representative of Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko says that he "does not understand" the club's valuation of the French international.

A representative of midfielder Moussa Sissoko has said that he wants Newcastle United to be "reasonable" over their valuation of the French international.

After the club's relegation to the Championship, it was reported that Sissoko would leave St James' Park but it has been claimed that his impressive showing at Euro 2016 has resulted in his price-tag being increased to £35m.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all being linked with a move for Sissoko, but an unnamed representative of the player has hinted that it will now be difficult to push through a transfer away from the club.

They told Foot Mercato: "We do not understand. It was agreed that Moussa stayed one more season at Newcastle to help the team.

"He did the best he could. The club has always said Moussa could leave for between £15.2m and £21.1m maximum. We hope that Rafael Benitez and the president will be more reasonable about Moussa's future.

"He has always been loyal, he has always respected the club, the fans. There are clubs who came to us and [Newcastle]. We are fully aware of their approaches."

Since joining Newcastle in 2013, Sissoko has made 133 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals.
