Middlesbrough are reportedly keen on signing Derby County defender Cyrus Christie ahead of next season.

Derby County defender Cyrus Christie has reportedly attracted interest from Middlesbrough ahead of next season.

Boro boss Garry Monk has indicated that he is in no rush to make additions to his squad, but it appears that work continues to go on behind the scenes at the Riverside Stadium.

According to the Derby Telegraph, Monk has identified Christie as the player he wants to take on the right-back role in their first campaign back in the Championship.

It has been claimed that an offer has already been rejected for the 24-year-old, but that is unlikely to deter the North-East outfit with a second bid.

Since signing for the Rams in 2014, Christie has made 107 appearances in the Championship, with a further 12 outings coming in other competitions.

Christie has also started to establish himself on the international scene with Republic of Ireland, with 10 caps being won since his debut in November 2014.
