Result: Mexico held to stalemate by Honduras

Mexico and Honduras continue their preparations for the CONCACAF Gold Cup by playing out a goalless draw in Texas.

Mexico and Honduras have warmed up for the CONCACAF Gold Cup by playing out a goalless draw at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

A scrappy start to the match offered a sign of what was to come from the two sides as Mexico dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances.

The first clear opportunity arrived for Mexico when Carlos Vela created space on the edge of the box to rattle the post with a powerful strike before Javier Hernandez's rebound was kept out by Donis Escober.

Vela was left frustrated once again before the break when he curled a free kick against the other post, but all eyes were on Hernandez moments later when the striker was forced off with a shoulder injury.

Honduras improved in the second half to cause a few more problems for Mexico, who lacked an attacking threat following the injury to Hernandez and the substitution of the lively Vela.

However, it was Mexico who were left complaining to officials late in the game when Johnny Palacios appeared to bring down Jesus Manuel Corona in the box, but the referee ignored the protests.

Mexico continued to ask the most questions in the closing stages, but a lack of cutting edge cost Miguel Herrera's side as they were forced to settle for a draw which stretches their winless run to seven matches.
