Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could look to rival Arsenal for the signature of AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to a report in the press.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly exploring a potential move for AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

The French attacker has been intensely pursued by United's Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer, but Arsene Wenger has so far been frustrated in his efforts to land the 21-year-old.

According to the Daily Record, United are thought to be keen on battling the Gunners for the youngster's signature following Lemar's standout contribution for Monaco last term, as they went on to claim the Ligue 1 title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The same report also states that the Red Devils' interest in the Frenchman could be driven by their recent failure to land Croatian winger Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.

Lemar scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists during his 55 appearances for AS during the 2016-17 campaign.
