Manchester United are reportedly in pole position in their race to sign Nemanja Matic after Juventus dropped their interest in the Chelsea midfielder.

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their race to sign Nemanja Matic after Juventus dropped their interest in the Chelsea midfielder, according to reports.

The 28-year-old played a key role in Chelsea's Premier League title triumph last term, but the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco has placed his future in doubt.

United and Juve are reported to be Matic's two main suitors, and the Serbia international was rumoured to have agreed a deal to join the Serie A giants last week.

According to The Independent, however, Matic has made it clear to the involved parties that his first preference is Old Trafford, leading to the Bianconeri reviving their interest in Paris Saint-Germain man Blaise Matuidi.

Matic has won two Premier League titles in his last three seasons with Chelsea.
