Former Real Madrid winger Steve McManaman claims that the Spanish giants will not be interested in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba due to his lack of football.

Former Real Madrid winger Steve McManaman has claimed that the Spanish giants will not be interested in signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United this summer as the Frenchman has not played enough football.

Pogba's campaign has been blighted by injuries so far, limiting him to only eight appearances across all competitions, the most recent of which came on Boxing Day.

The 27-year-old's future has still been a topic of much debate amid reported interest from Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, but McManaman believes that the World Cup winner could yet have a future at Old Trafford.

"He hasn't played enough football this season for sides like Madrid to be genuinely interested in him," McManaman told HorseRacing.net.

"If he stays, plays and gets back to full fitness at Manchester United, I certainly think that he will get back into the starting XI very easily. Nemanja Matic is a year older, Juan Mata is a year older and Paul is definitely good enough to play in those positions alongside Bruno Fernandes, so I don't think there's any problem there.

"He's certainly got the quality to play in the Manchester United midfield as long as he's fit and healthy, but we've been waiting to hear from Paul Pogba all year regarding his future. Pogba has yet to say whether he wants to stay or whether he wants to leave."

United have been linked with the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison as possible replacements for Pogba, whose contract at the club is currently due to expire next summer.
