Manchester United reportedly increase their interest in Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon, but are still understood to be behind Tottenham in the race for his signature.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still leading the race to sign Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon this summer despite growing interest from Manchester United.

Sessegnon has been a regular in the Fulham team since the age of 16 and, now aged 17, has been integral to their automatic promotion push this season with 15 goals for the club.

The youngster's form was recognised at the recent EFL awards, where he scooped a clean sweep of the prizes on offer by winning the Championship Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Apprentice of the Year, as well as being named in the Team of the Season and the EFL Club Developed XI.

The flurry of awards has only increased the interest in the winger, who began his career as a left-back but has since been moved further forward, and The Times reports that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has identified him as one of his top transfer targets.

However, Spurs are still understood to be favourites for Sessegnon's signature, although both may be forced to wait at least another season should Fulham achieve promotion to the Premier League.

The teenager has already suggested that he will stay with the Cottagers if they clinch automatic promotion or win the playoffs, with Slavisa Jokanovic's side currently sitting just one point off the automatic places.
