Roma have reportedly made signing Chris Smalling from Manchester United one of their priorities following a £533m takeover of the Serie A side.

Roma are reportedly weighing up a fresh approach for Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling after a successful takeover of the club.

The 30-year-old impressed during a season-long loan with the Italian side, making 37 appearances in all competitions.

However, Roma were unable to agree a loan extension with Man Utd last week and were priced out of making an offer for a permanent switch.

Calciomercato suggests that the Giallorossi are ready to revive their interest, though, after the club was sold by former owner James Pallotta in a £533m takeover.

Roma have been tipped to challenge for the Serie A title next season and bringing in Smalling permanently is said to be one of their priorities for the summer window.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that Cengiz Under, Patrik Schick and Alessandro Florenzi will all be sold to free up some space in the squad.
