A report claims that Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku may be offered a route out of Old Trafford by Inter Milan if the Italian side lose star striker Mauro Icardi.

Inter Milan will turn to Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku if Mauro Icardi leaves the club in the summer, according to a report.

Icardi has been involved in a contract standoff with Inter that has led to him being stripped of the captaincy.

The 25-year-old, previously touted as a target for Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, is said to be refusing to play for the club and is now expected to move on at the end of the campaign.

Tuttomercarto claims that the Nerazzurri already have plans in place to sign a replacement, with Man United striker Lukaku an option.

Lukaku has seen his playing time dwindle since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over at Old Trafford on an interim basis in December, starting just two games from a possible 12.

That lack of minutes has supposedly forced the Belgium international towards the exit, two years after arriving from Everton in a £75m deal, and Inter will consider signing him for a similar fee if Icardi is sold.

Marcus Rashford has been preferred through the middle by Solskjaer over the past two months, rewarding his stand-in manager's faith with six goals in eight league games.
