Manchester United have reportedly been encouraged to continue their pursuit of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire by their legendary former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly given the seal of approval for Manchester United to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

The Red Devils are rumoured to still be in the running to land the England international, despite already having a £70m bid knocked back.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have been encouraged by their legendary former boss to go all out to sign Maguire.

Ferguson watched the 26-year-old up close during United's 4-1 FA Youth Cup final victory over Sheffield United in 2011 and he supposedly wants the centre-back to make the move to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

Maguire is also rumoured to be a target for Manchester City and Arsenal, leading to Leicester increasing their asking price to £75m.
