Barcelona target Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly determined to join Manchester United this summer, despite the Red Devils being unable to offer Champions League football.

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt favours a switch to Manchester United over Barcelona, according to a report.

The Netherlands international's future has been a topic of fierce debate as a number of heavyweight clubs are fighting it out for his signature.

Barcelona were widely considered to be the favourites to land the Ajax skipper, but Marca suggests that De Ligt is not so keen on a move to Camp Nou and is now determined to sign for Man United.

Despite the Red Devils' failure to qualify for the Champions League, the report indicates that they are willing to offer the Dutch defender a better wage than Barca.

Speaking amid the ongoing rumours on Sunday, De Ligt admitted that he is still unsure where he will be playing his football next season.
