Gareth Bale will turn down a new contract offer from Real Madrid in order to return to the Premier League, an Italian media report claims.

Gareth Bale will reject the offer of a new contract at Real Madrid in order to return to the Premier League, according to an Italian publication.

The Welshman left Tottenham Hotspur for Los Blancos in a world-record, £85m transfer deal in 2013 and still has three years remaining on his contract in Spain.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, however, Bale's agents are said to be keen to secure him "a new adventure" in the English top flight this summer amid interest from big-spending rivals Manchester City and Manchester United.

Madrid, meanwhile, want to tie the 26-year-old down to a two-year extension that would keep him at the Bernabeu until at least 2021.

Bale recently admitted that he is now "more comfortable" in Spain after a difficult second season.
