Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is reported to have rejected a prospective big-money move to the Chinese Super League at the end of the season.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has rejected a prospective big-money move to the Chinese Super League, according to a report.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season, but the Red Devils have the option of a 12-month extension.

According to The Mirror, Mata's representatives have been approached by intermediaries and sounded out about a potential switch from United to a club in China.

However, the report suggests that the Spaniard has turned down the opportunity to increase his current £165,000-a-week salary and instead opted to stay at Old Trafford.

Mata has made a total of 155 appearances for United since his move from Chelsea in 2014.
