Manchester United reportedly submit an official approach for 16-year-old Monaco starlet Hannibal Mejbri, who has also been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Manchester United have reportedly made an official bid for 16-year-old Monaco starlet Hannibal Mejbri.

The youngster has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in French football, with his performances at youth level garnering interest from a number of Europe's biggest clubs.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are all thought to be monitoring proceedings, but RMC Sport claims that United have stolen a march on their rivals by submitting an offer.

United were also rumoured to have made an approach for Mejbri during the closing stages of the January transfer window, but they are more optimistic about their chances now due to an ongoing wrangle over his Monaco contract.

Mejbri's family claim that his current deal has not been ratified and have contacted the legal commission of Ligue 1 asking for the contract to be ripped up.

Monaco are desperate to keep the teenager and are understood to have offered him a new five-year deal, but United are reportedly offering higher wages and a larger signing-on fee, having been in talks with the player for months.

Mejbri missed training and matches during the final weeks of the season in an attempt to push for a move, although the complicated nature of his contract dispute could see it drag on throughout the summer months.
