Manchester United could move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel at the end of the season, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel.

Witsel spent the 2017-18 campaign with Chinese outfit Tianjin Quanjian before returning to the European game during the summer, and he has a contract with Dortmund until 2022.

Last week, it was claimed that United boss Jose Mourinho had made a personal check on Witsel during Belgium's recent UEFA Nations League clash with Iceland.

According to ESPN, Witsel's impressive form for Dortmund this season has attracted the interest of United, whose head coach Mourinho is a long-term admirer.

The report adds that United are unlikely to make a move in the January transfer window but could launch a bid at the end of the season.

Witsel has scored three times in 18 appearances for Dortmund this season.
