Manchester United are reportedly prepared to wait until the January transfer window in order to try to sign Benfica defender Nelson Semedo.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly decided that he is in no rush to try to sign Benfica defender Nelson Semedo.

Mourinho is said to be a long-term admirer of the right-back, who made 43 appearances for the Portuguese giants in all competitions last season.

However, according to Correio da Manha, United are currently baulking at the 23-year-old's asking price, which is said to stand at £44m.

With Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian both able to play in his position, it has been claimed that Mourinho does not need to push through the transfer during the current window.

The Portugal international allegedly has a release clause of £53m in his contract, which does not expire until 2021.
