Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff is reportedly at an impasse with the club over a new contract amid Manchester United's continued interest.
The Red Devils were believed to have targeted the 21-year-old in the summer as a potential replacement for Ander Herrera but they were not prepared to meet the Magpies' £50m valuation.
Since then, Steve Bruce's side have moved to tie Longstaff, a product of the club's academy, down to a new long-term deal but talks are believed to have stalled.
According to the Daily Mail, United are now set to resume their pursuit of the midfielder as they prepare for a major spending spree in the transfer window after recording their worst ever start to a Premier League season.
Longstaff has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle since making his first team debut last December, scoring two goals in the process.body check tags ::
