Goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly happy to remain a Manchester United player, as long as Jose Mourinho takes over from Louis van Gaal in the summer.

David de Gea is reportedly likely to stay at Manchester United beyond the summer, providing that the club replace current manager Louis van Gaal with Jose Mourinho.

The Spanish goalkeeper came very close to swapping Old Trafford for Real Madrid last summer, but the move eventually fell through at the eleventh hour over paperwork issues.

Los Blancos are believed to retain a strong interest in the 25-year-old, although it remains to be seen if they will look to reignite the transfer over the coming months.

However, providing that there is a change in management and results, De Gea is prepared to continue his career with United, according to The Telegraph.

The report adds that while the gloveman is frustrated by the prospect of a second season in three without Champions League football, he is ready to give Mourinho the chance to reverse United's slump since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.

Widespread reports have claimed that the 53-year-old has a verbal agreement to replace Van Gaal, who has stayed defiant throughout the speculation and insisted that he will see out the last 12 months of his deal.

An outlet in France has claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic's proposed switch to United hinges on the same dugout alteration being made.
