Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make David de Gea the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football.

Manchester United have reportedly indicated that they are prepared to make David de Gea the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football.

For a number of years, De Gea has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid and although a transfer is yet to materialise, United have reached a stage where they must make a decision on the Spaniard's long-term future.

Real have been linked with other stoppers in recent months and according to Marca, United have taken their chance to thrash out fresh terms with the 27-year-old.

The report claims that De Gea will earn €21m (£18.41m) per year at Old Trafford, with the contract said to last until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

During his seven years at Old Trafford, De Gea has made a total of 315 appearances in all competitions.
