Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly reluctant to sign a new contract with the club due to their current struggles on the pitch.

Manchester United have reportedly made no progress in contract talks with goalkeeper David de Gea.

De Gea's current deal at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of the season, although United have the option to extend that for a further 12 months in order to keep him at the club until 2020 at least.

However, the Red Devils are eager to tie the Spaniard down to a longer-term contract, and The Telegraph reports that negotiations have so far been unsuccessful.

De Gea is thought to be reluctant to commit his future to the club given their current struggles on the field, despite United's willingness to offer him around £275,000 per week.

The 28-year-old is eager to be challenging for the biggest trophies as he enters his prime and is concerned that United are some way away from competing for the Premier League and Champions League titles.

De Gea has been named United's player of the year in four of the last five seasons but has won just one Premier League title since joining the club in 2011.

Juventus are thought to be keeping tabs on the goalkeeper's situation at Old Trafford, while Real Madrid have held a long-standing interest but signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea during the summer.

United are also working on new deals for Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Anthony Martial - the latter of whom is one of eight players alongside De Gea who is out of contract next summer but could be kept for a further 12 months after that.
