David de Gea is reportedly keen to pen a new long-term contract with Manchester United, but is refusing to budge on his £350,000-a-week wage demands.

David de Gea is reportedly keen to pen a new long-term contract with Manchester United, but the Spain international is refusing to budge on his £350,000-a-week wage demands.

De Gea still has 18 months left to run on his existing contract, but United are desperate to sign the Spain international to a new long-term deal as soon as possible.

Last week, it was reported that the Red Devils had made a breakthrough in contract negotiations with De Gea.

According to The Mirror, the former Atletico Madrid stopper wants to commit his future to the English giants but will demand that his wage demands of £350,000 a week are met.

Alexis Sanchez is currently United's highest earner, with the Chilean - a free transfer from Arsenal last January - collecting in the region of £400,000 a week.

De Gea, who joined United from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, has made 346 appearances in all competitions for the 20-time English champions.

The 28-year-old kept his sixth Premier League clean sheet of the season in United's 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
