Wayne Rooney has been named among the starters for Manchester United for this evening's Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

The England international is one of eight players to retain their place in the starting lineup, as boss Louis van Gaal largely keeps faith with the side that narrowly saw off Aston Villa at the weekend.

Matteo Darmian, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial have all returned to the team, taking the places of Marcos Rojo, Marouane Fellaini and Memphis Depay.

Visiting boss Alan Pardew has made eight changes to his Palace side, meanwhile, with one eye on Sunday's FA Cup semi-final meeting against Watford.

Julian Speroni is among those to return, replacing first-choice stopper Wayne Hennessey who misses out on the squad altogether, while attacker Yannick Bolasie also fails to feature in the matchday 18.

The Eagles, who are now unbeaten in four league games, can call upon Emmanuel Adebayor - a player who has scored three times against United in the past at the Theatre of Dreams - up top.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Darmian, Lingard, Schneiderlin, Mata, Rooney, Martial, Rashford
Subs: Romero, Fosu-Mensah, Rojo, Young, Fellaini, Herrera, Memphis

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Mariappa, Delaney, Souare, Jedinak, Cabaye, Lee, Zaha, Sako, Adebayor
Subs: McCarthy, Dreher, McArthur, Mutch, Puncheon, Campbell, Wickham
