How Manchester United could line up against Arsenal

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Saturday's Premier League showdown with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United will be looking to bounce straight back to winning ways on Saturday when they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The title-chasing Red Devils endured a miserable midweek, first being knocked off the top of the table by local rivals Manchester City and then falling to a stunning 2-1 home defeat at the hands of rock-bottom Sheffield United on Wednesday.

That result was Man United's first loss since the reverse fixture against Arsenal on November 1, and they now face a Gunners side in fine form as the 20-time champions look to get their title challenge immediately back on track.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could line his side up for the contest.

Solskjaer could make a few changes to the team which lost against Sheffield United in midweek, with a number of players knocking on the door for a recall.

Top of that list will be Edinson Cavani, whose opportunistic strike at Fulham in Man United's last away game saw him become the club's first player to score each of his first four Premier League goals on the road.

The veteran Uruguayan will likely replace Anthony Martial up front after the Frenchman's midweek performance came under scrutiny.

The criticism he received went a long way past the mark when he, along with teammate Axel Tuanzebe, were subjected to vile racist abuse online, and both players could sit this match out, albeit not as a direct consequence of that abuse.

Tuanzebe is likely to be replaced by Victor Lindelof, whose recovery from a nagging back problem is being carefully monitored by Man United, forcing Solskjaer to exercise caution over his minutes.

Eric Bailly had been due to partner Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence against Sheffield United, but a knock in training earlier this week ruled him out and he remains doubtful for this one.

Luke Shaw, Fred and Scott McTominay are among the other players who will be pushing for a start, but the likes of Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are expected to keep their places.

Bruno Fernandes should also start once again, despite having now gone four Premier League games without a goal or an assist - his longest drought since joining the club a year ago.
