Manchester United are reportedly willing to allow interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make decisions on the futures of players who will soon be out of contract.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to consult Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when deciding on the future of a number of top players.

Solskjaer's contract as interim manager only runs until the end of the season, but the club's board are willing to allow him to make decisions whose consequences will extend beyond his potentially short stay.

The Norwegian has already revealed that he will be involved in talks over any January transfer targets, and The Mirror reports that he will also now help decide the futures of players soon to be out of contract.

The likes of Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are already free to discuss terms with overseas clubs having entered the final six months of their current deals, while Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Andreas Pereira are also nearing the end of their contracts.

Ashley Young is another player whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, and United are also hopeful that Solskjaer will help to convince David de Gea to commit his long-term future to the club.

The Red Devils triggered a one-year extension to De Gea's current deal earlier this season, but the new terms only extend until the summer of 2020.

Solskjaer has won all five of his games in charge of United so far and has already declared his interest in taking the job on a permanent basis despite the club being linked with Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane.
