Ryan Giggs reveals closest he came to leaving Man Utd
Ryan Giggs reveals the one time he came close to leaving Manchester United for Inter Milan midway through his Red Devils career.

Ryan Giggs has opened up on the one time he came close to leaving Manchester United.

The former Wales international and current Wales manager played his entire career with the Red Devils, where he made over 900 appearances between 1990 and 2014.

However, Giggs suggested that his career could have panned out far differently had reported interest from Inter Milan come to fruition in the early 2000s.

"Around 2002-03 - the summer that David Beckham left - there was talk of me potentially going to Inter Milan. Now I never heard anything but I didn't have the greatest start to the season," the 46-year-old said.

"I actually ended up doing okay that season but there was a lot of talk of one of us going and David ended up going, but that was the closest probably I ever got to leaving.

"But for me, I never wanted to leave. I always wanted that challenge every year and [Manchester United] was a team that I loved, loved playing for, and felt every year there was a challenge."

Giggs went on to win 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and three League Cups during a glistening career at Old Trafford.
