A report claims that Ryan Giggs is seen by FAW chiefs as the ideal man to become the national side's new manager should current boss Chris Coleman take over at Hull City.

Football Association of Wales chiefs have reportedly made Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs their top target to replace Chris Coleman as manager of the national side.

Current boss Coleman, who guided the Dragons to the European Championship semi-finals this summer, has been heavily linked with the vacant Hull City job.

City have already had one approach for the former Coventry City and Fulham manager rejected by the FAW, but the Tigers are still understood to be interested in holding talks.

The Mirror claims that Wales will turn to Giggs should Coleman depart, despite the ex-United winger boasting zero managerial experience and also having a frosty relationship with supporters of his national team.

Giggs was often criticised for his failure to appear in friendly matches, although FAW officials believe that he is the ideal man to take over ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign.

Wales face Moldova at the Cardiff City Stadium in their opening qualifying match on September 5.
