Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says that he is "very pleased" with his side despite their defeat to Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has said that he is "very pleased" with his side despite their defeat to Manchester United in the Community Shield this afternoon.

Jamie Vardy had cancelled out Jesse Lingard's opener with his first goal of the season in the second half, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed home a late winner to hand United the first trophy of the 2016-17 season.

Ranieri believes that his side deserved to at least come away with a draw, but was content with what he saw from his players despite leaving Wembley empty handed.

"I am very pleased with our performance, we are in pre-season and we played against a big team but we deserve, minimum, to play the penalty shootout. That's football," he told reporters.

"When you have Zlatan Ibrahimovic you know he maybe doesn't touch so many balls but he gets one right and he scores. I enjoyed and watched the same team as last season, only the result is against us. Before the match I asked for 120% and they gave me 120%."

Leicester will begin their Premier League title defence away to Hull City next Saturday.
