A report claims that Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic have stepped in to quell a rebellion from taking place at Manchester United during a turbulent week for the club.

Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic have reportedly turned peacemakers in the Manchester United dressing room to prevent the bitter row between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho from boiling over.

Divisions are said to have formed at Old Trafford over the past week following the latest falling out between the star midfielder and his manager.

Mourinho's public humiliation of Phil Jones and Eric Bailly is also rumoured to have caused further unrest behind the scenes, with certain players siding with the Portuguese and others plotting against him.

With United's season at risk of completely derailing, The Sun suggests that Mata and Matic have stepped in to quell the rebellion.

The duo have taken on captaincy roles to pull everyone together, it is claimed, with the hope that the Reds Devils can move on as one for the rest of the season.

Next up for Mourinho's men is a trip to West Ham United on Saturday lunchtime.
