Manchester United are hoping to avoid equalling a club record of three league games without a goal at home against West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

Manchester United will be hoping to avoid a third consecutive home game without a goal in the Premier League when they welcome West Bromwich Albion to Old Trafford on Saturday night.

The Red Devils have endured a torrid start to the season on familiar territory, with Arsenal winning at Old Trafford for the first time in the league since 2006 earlier this month - and United also drew 0-0 with Chelsea before that defeat.

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side fail to find the back of the net against the Baggies this weekend, they will equal an unwanted club record of three straight top-flight matches without a goal to their name on home soil.

The 20-time English champions have seen this occur 13 times in their illustrious history, but it has only ever happened once since the Premier League's inception - between March and May 2002.

United's only home win of the season so far was their 5-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig in the Champions League, with Solskjaer unsuccessfully attempting to lead his side to victory at home in the English top flight during the 2020-21 campaign.

Should the Red Devils not take the spoils this weekend, it will also mark the third time in their history that they have not won any of their opening five home matches in the league, which has happened in the 1930-31 and 1972-73 seasons.
