Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has said that he feels the atmosphere at Anfield could be the key to Liverpool finally ending their league title drought.

The Reds finished just one point off Manchester City last season but they have started this season in sensational form, winning their first eight matches before drawing 1-1 with the midfielder's former club.

Speaking to the Blood Red Podcast, Ince said: "I love the Liverpool people. They come and support the team, they know football and they back their players. But one thing about the two teams, you never see them boo their players off, or very rarely. They are understanding fans.

"They are different atmospheres in different ways, but I like the way Liverpool look after their players, look after their own."

While Ince said that he felt that you could 'sense the nerves' in the ground last season, he believes that that experience will allow them to play the role of 12th man for Jurgen Klopp's side during this campaign.

After nine games, Liverpool have a six point lead over City at the top of the table, with United 15 points off the league leaders.
