David de Gea: 'Spain debut was a dream'

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea admits that it was "a dream come true" to make his Spain debut against El Salvador on Saturday evening.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has said that it was "a dream come true" to make his Spain debut on Saturday evening.

The former Atletico Madrid stopper replaced Iker Casillas in the latter stages of last night's 2-0 win over El Salvador in what was La Roja's final warm-up match before the World Cup.

"Getting the national team jersey and making my debut is a dream come true," AS reports De Gea as saying.

"Let's hope it's the first of many. The coach warned me that getting out there is a dream and to replace Casillas. I told my teammates I really enjoyed it and what to try and do whatever I can."

De Gea was voted double Player of the Year for his club side last season.
